About Us

 Starlight Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1914 under a brush harbor, a hidden spot in the woods where enslaved African Americans once came to worship. Established by the late Rev. A. Gains, the congregation has since witnessed significant development and physical transformation. Under Pastor E.W. Sanders, the church underwent a complete renovation, setting the stage for future ministry. Today, led by Rev. Phillip McSwain, Jr., Starlight anticipates a new era of spiritual growth and physical expansion. As a Bible-based, Christ-centered church, Starlight is dedicated to sharing God's Word and fostering a vibrant, spirit-filled community. Guided by our mission of "Dispelling unbiblical notions through the Word of God," we aim to equip believers, reach the lost and embody love and truth. Located at 413 Gravel Line St, Hattiesburg, MS 39401, Starlight is a place where faith deepens, lives are transformed, and God is exalted. Through impactful preaching, heartfelt worship, and a welcoming environment, we are a church family growing together in Christ.
